ALT Software and DDC-I Complete Technology Integration Designed for DO-178B Integrated Modular Avionics Graphic Display Systems

TORONTO, Canada - November 17, 2008
- ALT Software, a worldwide provider of 2D/3D advanced graphics software and development services for embedded systems, announced today the technology integration of ALT's DO-178B OpenGL graphics libraries and the safety-critical RTOS, Deos™ (DDC-I Embedded Operating System). This technical product collaboration is fully certifiable to Level A, the highest FAA standard for flight critical software, and is proven in the market with combined deployed solutions.

Featuring the patented SLACK™ scheduler, Deos is a safe, fast, deterministic, RTOS optimized for safety-critical applications that place a premium on reliability, real-time performance, and testability. With ALT's modular OpenGL drivers build to the same challenging market requirements, the resulting cohesive product lines are the most robust, secure and optimally-performing embedded software in the industry.

ALT's OpenGL (ES and ES SC) drivers enable the performance benefits of hardware accelerated graphics and support a variety of graphic processor units (GPUs) from ATI/AMD, Fujitsu and Imagination Technologies running on either PowerPC or x86 based systems. Certifiable to DO-178B Level A, ALT Software's 2D/3D graphic libraries provide many product options including driver binaries, binaries plus source code, diagnostic tools, and the full set of plans, documents and artifacts required for the entire certification life cycle.

Deos is the only DO-178B Level A certifiable time and space (T&&S) partitioned RTOS built from the ground up for safety-critical applications, and provides the easiest, lowest cost path of any commercial off the shelf RTOS. Deos has been deployed in nearly a dozen programs, and is already flying on more airframes than any other COTS RTOS. Development support for DDC-I's RTOS family includes DDC-I's Eclipse-based, OpenArbor Integrated Development Environment. Available with Ada, C/C++, and RTSJ Java optimizing compilers, the mixed-language IDE features a color-coded source editor, project management support, automated build/make utilities, and a mixed-language, multi-window, symbolic debugger.

"ALT is honoured to be the prime supplier of OpenGL certifiable solutions for Deos," said Darryl Parisien, president of ALT Software, "Our mutual customers benefit from ALT's long history of support for Deos and have already seen the benefits where it counts the most - in ensuring their certifiable projects are delivered on time and under budget. Together, we offer the easiest, lowest cost path of any COTS RTOS, OpenGL solution to DO-178B Level A certification --- all from the proven leaders in our respective technologies."

"Deos is the first commercial RTOS designed specifically to address performance, reliability, security, and certification," said Bob Morris, president and CEO of DDC-I. "ALT's advanced graphics products have the same pedigree, they offer the widest support for GPU/CPU combinations in the market and then add to that the fact that ALT has proven experience delivering DO178B Level A projects on Deos already / It's a win-win situation for our customers and the industry as a whole."
