Automotive Overview
Automotive represents one of the fastest growing market sectors. The worldwide automotive market is expected to grow from $74 billion to $110 billion by 2011 (Electronics.ca Publication). With consumer demand for improved safety, electronics innovations, and high-performance requirements on the rise, automobile makers and their suppliers are not only challenged with developing innovative automobiles and in-car infotainment products but also with meeting the ever-increasing software complexities and the convergence of consumer technologies in next generation telematics systems.
"In the future, software design will be the biggest challenge faced by the automotive industry,"

Advances in In-Car Infotainment Systems
Since people are spending a good part of their day in the car, there is a growing demand for high-quality audio and information content available on demand while on the road. Vehicle manufacturers are increasingly integrating infotainment systems (ie. CAN, WiFi, USB, Bluetooth, 1394) with next generation vehicle functions such as automated crash notification, autonomous driving, collision avoidance and lane-departure warning.

OpenGL Solutions
To operate efficiently, integrated dashboard applications will require either OpenGL or OpenGL ES reliability. ALT Software provides a variety of OpenGL embedded software graphics drivers that are deployed in automotive devices worldwide. ALT’s OpenGL solutions offer telematics device developers a robust, end-to-end solution for intricate graphics displays and support for next generation technologies. In conjunction with operating systems software partners QNX, Microsoft, Wind River, Green Hills and Linux, ALT Software delivers middleware software and multimedia solutions to meet the specific and demanding requirements of automotive Tier 1 suppliers
