The consumer electronics market continues to evolve and proliferate at rates that eclipse other markets. Manufacturers of consumer devices such as PDA’s, mobile phones, laptops and flat-panel TV’s find themselves under tremendous pressure to deploy electronic devices under extremely short development cycles that are not only unique and rich in features but more importantly have the ability to converge media-centric devices with data-centric devices. Add to this the fact that more and more of these devices have colour displays that require higher levels of functionality formerly only found on desktop PCs.
Driving the growth for embedded software products and solutions in consumer electronics is this trend towards convergence, and consumers’ almost insatiable demand for leading-edge embedded software features, user-friendly graphical user interfaces, and unfaltering network connectivity.
